Clayburn Griffin Launches Bid to Represent NM's 2nd Congressional District

Clayburn Griffin Announces CampaignLOVINGTON, NM - Today, Lovington native Clayburn Griffin officially announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District.  "I want to bring compassionate conservatism back to the GOP and build a new American Dream that works in our modern economy," Griffin announced over a conference call with key supporters.

With incumbent Steve Pearce running for governor, the seat is open to a wide range of contenders across the state, but Griffin feels confident that his message will resonate with the hard-working people of New Mexico.  His campaign plans to focus on the economy and push for on-the-job training programs in emerging markets.  "People are tired of working dead-end jobs, of living paycheck to paycheck with the fear of being laid off at a moment's notice as new technologies continue to disrupt industry after industry," Griffin added on the call.  "We need to invest in our workers and give them the skills that are in high demand in today's market."

Other pressing issues for the campaign include preserving public lands and defending the US against the growing cyber threats from terrorist groups and foreign adversaries.  Griffin intends to travel around the district in the coming weeks to gather signatures for his nominating petition and to meet with voters directly to discuss issues important to them.

Griffin has long been passionate about politics and community activism.  His early interest in politics started as founder and president of Lovington High School's Teenage Republicans club where he campaigned for Representative Pearce in his initial run for this same seat.  Most recently Griffin has worked on former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson's two presidential bids, in 2012 and again in 2016.
