Lovington native, Clayburn Griffin, is committed to raising the bar for political discourse and fighting to ensure our electoral system represents the hardworking men and women of our country. He has long been active in politics, working on Representative Steve Pearce's and Senator Pete Domenici's campaigns in the early 2000s and Governor Gary Johnson's two presidential campaigns most recently.
Clayburn was founder and president of Lovington High School's Teenage Republicans club. He also dedicated himself to community service efforts and served as president of the LHS Key Club.
Over the years, he has seen America's political system devolve into vitriolic, partisan rhetoric. Now, Clayburn wants to be part of the solution. He hopes to bring a positive and compassionate message back onto the political scene and asks why our current politicians are fighting petty feuds over Twitter instead of making our economy work for regular Americans.
A focus of Clayburn's campaign to represent New Mexico's 2nd congressional district is to build a new American Dream by modernizing our local economy and bringing on-the-job training programs to southern New Mexico. He believes that anyone able and willing to work an honest job deserves wages and benefits that allow them to build a strong, stable future for themselves and their families.
Clayburn attended the College of Santa Fe before continuing his education at New York University. He has built a career and a strong personal brand in the digital marketing world, but politics and community activism has always been a strong passion. The 2018 midterm elections offer a unique opportunity to New Mexican voters to disrupt our political establishment and bring compassionate conservatism back into the Republican Party.
Congress's approval ratings are disastrously low, and Clayburn understands the frustrations people have for a system that claims to have their best interests in mind, yet consistently ignores them. You will not be ignored anymore. It's Clayburn's sincere desire to take the People's Message to Washington DC and remind our politicians who it is they're supposed to serve.
"Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
- Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address
